The blesbok is an antelope endemic to South Africa. It has a distinctive white face and forehead which inspired the name, “bles” is the Afrikaans word for a blaze.
The design of this piece was inspired by the animal’s unique color patterns and the colors reflect the green, black and red of the flag.
The cameo of the Warrior African Queen expresses the dignity and strength of those native to the land.
