Desert Journey - Gemsbok Skull
The gemsbok antelope is highly nomadic in the desert areas of Africa. They are the most desert-adapted large animal, capable of surviving in waterless wastelands where many animals would perish. With the reduction of habitat for the wild antelopes this ability is crucial for survival.
In this work the tracks of the antelope are portrayed by the ornamental glass millefiori. The majesty of the gemsbok is displayed with powerful horns and the elegant curves of the skull.
The Mookaite jasper cabochons are said to be nurturing stones that support and sustain during times of stress.
